The Hintalovon Foundation’s e-learning training has made it to the finals of the Civil Award 2025! Support us in the public vote — for the safety of children!
We are proud and delighted to share that the Hintalovon Foundation’s e-learning training “What Is Pedophilia, and What Are the Most Important Things to Know About Sexual Violence Against Children?” has been selected as a finalist for the Civil Award 2025! This recognition is a great honor for us, as the Civil Award is one of the most prestigious acknowledgments of the work of civil society organizations in Hungary.
A Comprehensive Campaign for Children’s Safety
Julcsi has many friends, lives in a loving family, has the latest phone, and is followed by many on social media. She gets lots of messages.
Laci lives in a children’s home. He is thin and shy, surrounded by older boys who constantly watch pornography.
Vanessza, Ildi, and Szandi are siblings. They live in deep poverty; their mother is an alcoholic. Every year, their parents take them abroad to work for a few weeks—the family lives off the money earned then for the whole year.
Peti was walking home from training on a dark street the other day when two men began following him more and more closely.
Four stories—yet it’s only the last one that makes us raise our heads. We notice dark alleys, strange cars, scary men, and strangers. But do we notice the others? The Julcsis, Lacis, and Szandis? The more than 90% of typical cases of child sexual abuse? And if we adults don’t see them, then who will?
Our e-learning course “What Is Pedophilia, and What Are the Most Important Things to Know About Sexual Violence Against Children?” aims to break down misconceptions about child sexual abuse and make essential knowledge widely accessible—knowledge that helps identify, prevent, and address abuse cases.
For a long time, the topic was not spoken about; there was no proper information, and many didn’t know how to approach it. Even though it’s increasingly discussed today, there are still many misconceptions and gaps in understanding. Yet the right knowledge is essential to prevent sexual abuse against children. And first, it is we adults who must learn.
Alongside the e-learning training, we organized several accompanying programs to reach as many adults as possible. In a Facebook Live conversation, Katalin Stáhly and Szilvia Gyurkó, moderated by Krisztina Bombera, guided participants through the topic of sexual abuse. We also held a dedicated online forum for professionals to ask their questions directly. Additionally, through a comprehensive online communication campaign—including influencer collaborations, press coverage, and social media content—we strived to spread our message widely.
The goal of the training is to provide adults with real knowledge so they can confidently respond to the diverse needs of children. One of the program’s greatest successes is reflected in our impact measurement: more than 60% of learners registered on the recommendation of a colleague or acquaintance. This feedback brings us immense joy, as it proves that adults are talking and thinking about children’s rights—and doing so with more solid knowledge. |
