What happened in 2016?
In 2017, for the first time, a comprehensive examination was conducted on the child rights events of the previous year, highlighting legislative changes, statistics, and the validation of child rights. We also identified which child rights topics dominated the conversation, reflecting what we, as adults, think about children.
What was it like to be a child in Hungary in 2016? This first evidence based objective report which considers both positive and negative developments and focuses on values and children’s rights without judgement and recommendations.
In 2017, we celebrated both 26 years of recognizing child rights and the 20th anniversary of the Child Protection Act (1997, No. 31 Act). Did we truly have a reason to celebrate? What is it like to be a child in Hungary two and a half decades after the appearance of child rights?
