On 2 June 2026, we invite everyone who cares about children’s well-being, safety and participation to join us for a full-day international child rights conference in Budapest.
The event will take place at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), creating a professional space where meaningful dialogue can begin about children’s rights and their everyday realities.
Thinking together for children
What makes this conference special is that it does not rely solely on expert presentations. It also builds on real-life experiences from everyday practice.
We believe that protecting children is not the responsibility of a single actor. It is a shared commitment that requires cooperation between professionals, decision-makers and civil society.
Throughout the day, plenary sessions and parallel workshops will support this shared thinking, focusing on three key areas of child rights: promotion, protection and participation.
International perspectives, local challenges
The conference will feature experts from Flanders, offering an opportunity to reflect on Hungarian challenges through international perspectives.
The programme will be held primarily in Hungarian (with one workshop in English), making it accessible to a wide audience.
Workshop topics will include pressing and relevant issues such as:
- child-friendly justice
- digital child protection
- children’s participation in local public affairs
More than a conference: a shared journey
Today, the field of child rights faces many challenges — from risks in the digital environment to institutional practices and ensuring that children’s voices are heard.
This conference does not aim to provide ready-made answers. Instead, it creates space for asking questions together, sharing experiences, and thinking collectively.
We place special emphasis on practical knowledge, good practices, and initiatives that can bring real change to children’s lives.
